I graduated with a PhD from the University of Delaware in December 1983. I'd been teaching at Temple University prior to that, and my first tenure track job was at Villanova. I love Philadelphia! But the opportunity to move to Penn State and teach graduate students took me to the center of the state for the first time in my life. I have been here since 1986.

My husband, Ted, renovates buildings. He was an industrial arts teacher, then a teacher of AutoCAD, prior to his retirement. He renovated the Gamble Mill Tavern in Bellefonte, and he continues to renovate our old house, the oldest in these parts, dating to about 1780.

We rescue cocker spaniels, the seniors who have been cast off for one reason or another. They love all the spoiling we give them.

I write on Benjamin Franklin right now and have done so for the past 15 years or so. I hope to continue teaching for the next 5-10 years, or as long as I know I still have things to offer Penn State students.
