David Joseph "Crock" Philbin Jr. of Clarks Summit died Wednesday evening in Mercy Hospital following an illness. 

Born in Scranton on Dec. 1, 1955, son of Ann McDonnell Philbin and the late David J. Philbin Sr., he was a graduate of Abington Heights High School and was employed as a laborer at Judge Lumber, L&L Supply and Klea Manufacturing. He was a member of the Church of St. Gregory, Clarks Green.

Also surviving are a sister, Susan Vilello, Moscow; two brothers, Thomas, North Carolina; and Peter, Havertown, Pa.; nieces and nephews. 

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert.

The funeral will be Monday with Mass at 10 a.m. in the Church of St. Gregory, North Abington Road, Clarks Green, to be celebrated by Monsignor John H. Lewis, pastor. Friends are asked to go directly to the church. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.

Friends may call Sunday, 4 to 6 p.m., at the Eugene A. Cusick Funeral Home, 217 Jefferson Ave., Scranton.
